I got bored & started moving the camera around & "Voila"...."Epiphany"...suddenly the word 'abstract' entered my vocabulary. Started using longer exposures & flailing the 450d around like a madman. Got a lot of weird looks from people but I was stoked. Will start posting a few of these sometime soon. Hope you don't mind me bending your ear...peace and cheers, Brah....

Thanks, Dayne, for that reply on the non-use of a tripod on most architectural shots. I'm the same way, just checking to make sure I wasn't the only one. My past 3 posts were at the Park several nights a few good ones but 2008 was the pivotal one for me. Then the star atop the tree had lights on it that were timed to a censor which changed the light intensity & configuration, along with the colors of the ornaments on the tree. Do you remember that? Anyway, the 2nd night ..contd...

I left the Aperture gig around 8 (should have stayed longer)...would have seen you go on stage, then know who you were. Just curious, what did you win last year?

Hi Dayne,I thank for a reply. About "the wet luster of the rock" that I pointed out, you have been already handled. Please do not mind this indication. Probably this will be because the resolution of my display is bad. thanks :)

Hi Dayne, thanks for your comments on my image 'Dream'. I did try lining the sun up with the end of the pier but the composition looked strange due to the planks of the pier being at an angle to the bottom of frame. I might post the image so you can see if you feel the same. Cheers, Dave.

Thanks for the comment on "Zion Rocks". Yes, the original is a different feel. It was such a cold day...we were wrapped up in multiple layers under a full dry-suit. So I wanted to give a cooler feel to the image. I think it works. Cheers.

Thanks for taking a look. Yes, it was cold. I guess I should be used to it, living up here. Silver Efex is very cool and Nik does have a free trial available. I like B&W, but am just starting to give it a go. On Niks website they have some excellent tutorials that I`ve looked at. We`ll have to see if they help me or not!!

Dayne, nice to find someone that has been on the site for a while. I've read most of your bulletin board comments and have to agree with most of them. Just starting to look through your photos, they look awesome. I'll make some time to look/vote and of course...comment! Cheers, Simon

I am still trying to work out how to use this little black box with a hole in the front.

It seems to be a portal to some other world, and it appears to be leading me on a journey of discovery. Every time I pick it up, it gives me glimpses into this other world that I am eager to explore.
