The Gills Simon are doing their usually will they make the play-off or won't they :).......they have have a run of beating teams above them, then a run of losing to those below.........some things never change :))

Hi Simon, well I am always happy to receive such many and nice comments from many friends here, but your comments to several of my images today is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for each one of them. Your observation about the pelican's eye is right on and concur with you. Thank you my friend! Lorenzo

Many thanks for your comment re my 'Montana' pic Simon. And I don't mind your input at all - in fact it was most appreciated. And yes, I shall follow your advice and then repost the picture. I snapped it while riding my motorcycle through the state of Montana in August 2008 and really just posted it to see how much 'negative' reaction it would generate. Not much! Disappointed....:-D Cheers Simon, you take great photographs.

Thanks so much Simon for your kind words, they are very inspiring and much appreciated. You have an excellent and unique gallery, you have seen and captured some beautiful countryside. I am so sorry to hear about your Friend...Cancer takes so many people in the prime of their life.

No worries Simon, your photos are mind blowing! You have more great pictures than any here I think!! I truly love your work. BTW, I was off line in Kauai from the 7th to the 21st so I didn't really notice your absence; however your note has me focused on your gallery again and i am enjoying!! Welcome back

Simon, thanks for your comments on my butterfly image, I appreciate it! And yes, it was taken with the 100mm f/2.8L IS lens on the new Canon 5D Mark 3. I love this lens! It's slightly sharper than the older 100mm macro and the IS is the biggest bonus on this lens. Surprisingly, even though IS isn't really "needed" on a macro lens, it has come in handy many times.

Losing a friend is so difficult, Simon, and it doesn't matter about the form that the friend has. I've lost two dogs as an adult; we form close attachments to them. I hope you can find solace in your work as a photographer. Sincerely, Carol

Hi Simon, thanks for all the comments and continued support - very much appreciated! To answer your questions, I use a variety of filters, mostly ND8, ND400, ND1000 some ND grads and a circular polariser (rarely all at once lol). I do my post processing in CS5 and I often process different parts of the image differently. In particular, the sky - I love to bring out contrast and detail in the clouds. Cheers, Dave.

I like your gallery Simon, very much. Also wanted to say thank you for commenting on the black and white version of the sunflowers. I find I'm doing more b/W than I've done in years. Have a good weekend. Carol

Pleasure to meet you Simon! You have some superb images in your portfolio so far! Feel free to give me a yell and go for a coffee sometime...
 Dave Cox said:March 11th, 2012 (4:35pm) PDT
Great portfolio Simon. Please don't take this the wrong way but have you tried upping the contrast in your images by 10-20% ?? In my opinion they look slightly washed out but the contrast would give them an extra 'pop'. Anyway, just my opinions and feel free to ignore/delete as you wish. Never the less, a lovely selection of images. Cheers, Dave.

Again, wish I was there. A bad shoot in the mountains is still better than a good week in the city. (smile) Good luck tonight. pat

I'm glad you like the idea of blind submissions, it the only logical way for the mods to have a fiar system. The could monitor the message thread to see whos soliciting for votes and stop that in its tracks. Don't know how they would stop external soliciting though. Lets see where it goes. Thanks ofr the feedback

Simon. Thanks for your comments. No, I have not tried Silver Efex yet, but heard it is good. Been using Photoshop Elements up to now. Just shelled out for Lightroom. Silver Efex is next on the shopping list as I like black and white.
