Thanks for your visit and comments Carl. I've missed you! That 400mm length is a 2x converter on my 24-70 f/2.8L. I've gotten mixed results with it, as has been documented by some others. I'm not very impressed with the IQ at distance. But closer up like that portrait of the girl did a pretty decent job I think. Yes, it was candid. But I had earlier asked and taken another shot of her so I didn't feel like I was violating her privacy. Yep, that's a little prayer chapel up in the hills.

Thank you very much, Carl, for recent visit and kind words on the 'Glacier' pics...your feedback is greatly appreciated. Yes, there numerous hiking trails in the park that weave in and out of some of these mountains, some are easy, some a bit strenuous but all worthwhile. The rocks in the area are supposedly among the oldest anywhere. I like to snap them for their color/texture appeal. I enjoy viewing your artistic, eclectic gallery.

Thank you Carl for your recent comments. Much appreciated! As for the "Light green," this is a beautiful fern, very delicate and rare to find. I realize the comparison with a Ginko leaf, although the fern is probably half the size of the one from the big tree. Thanks! Lorenzo

Carl, Thank you very much for your detailed, kind comment! I was determined to get a shot that included that awning, so I positioned myself out of the way and as you noted, started shooting from about waist-level. I got lucky with these two who happened to be walking in perfect lock-step! Now about the 'young' part, you might be misled by my avatar, which is my 16 year old son in silhouette. Cheers!

Fantastic gallery, Carl. I've tried to leave comments on a number of them, but there is no comment box for me to leave any in. By the way, it does let me vote. The latest macro shot is wonderful,I love the colour and detail. And I can relate to the story you tell of the beach when you were younger. Brought back memories for me of SE England. Thanks for sharing your images.

Hi Carl, I wanted to comment on "screecher", but the comment box on that screen wasn't active for me. Anyway, it is a fabulous image. Gorgeous detail and colour. However,..... we have a pet eclectus parrot, who has to be the noisiest bird on the planet (I know that being from Australia you may doubt that), and I'm pretty sure that he must have a patent on the word "screecher", because, man, can he screech! Glad I found your portfolio, you have some excellent work. Cheers, Simon.

hey Carl, in regards to the Uluru image.. it was taken with only natures light, but having said that i used a 3stop grad on the sky and lightened the foreground in curves. the original was a little dark. Dave Cox and i waited a whole week for cloud to arrive, and id have done all my exposures so differently if we had more cloud filled days. I loved it here though, and next time i go ill be only taking my medium format film cams. cheers.

Thanks for your kind comment, Carl. I'm a great fan of Neil Oliver and his Coast series - and I really wish I had been the guy in the helicopter - but sadly not! If you're ever "up top", you really must visit the Isle of Skye - it's a magical place.

"Morning" was shot at Turimetta Beach, between Narrabeen and Warriewood Beaches, North of Sydney. Nice place to shoot but very popular with photographers. Pleased you like it! Btw- why wouldn't the horizon be straight? Should I be checking my other shots for crooked ones? ;-P
