Thank you David for your nice comments on my photo. Is this the customary way to interact here or do most people reply in the posts under their photo that was commented on? I am still learning my way around.

Greetings David, this huge star series was taken several years ago during the Christmas season at our downtown park. The large star was atop a 50ft tree decorated with lights & ornaments. The whole thing was on a timer/sensor that changed the formation/colors of the lights. I found that by moving the camera a motion effect was created using a slow shutter speed. The 'gbl' tones you noticed were actually the ornament bulbs. If you tilt your head to the right, you will see the top of the tree.

Hi David I certainly did follow the arrow and it was tell lies :-)

David, when I visit my daughter's family in NY, I walk their dog daily in the morning along the East River walkway starting under the Queensboro Bridge which stretches from 60th St to around 80th St. There are benches which some homeless people will use overnight, some will even sleep on the ground. I have a number of shots of folks still sleeping as I pass them by walking the dog. This particular image was more comical than most. Most folks are transitory as this fellow was, only saw him once

Yes, it is rust. It is a very old clock that is on a railway station that is a Liberty State Park in NJ. The railways there took immigrants from Ellis Island and transported to all parts west of NJ. It's called the CRRNJ Terminal.

Hi David...had a little problem trying to finish my reply to your comment on the Arch pic. Those 24 & 36 exp. rolls of Kodachrome, as you probably remember, were the gold standard & were treated as such. One click of the shutter for what or whoever, then hope they came out ok after waiting for a week. Such a difference from today where you can take dozens of shots of the same thing & choose the best one. But I still have fond memories of the film days & wish I still had that old Ricoh camera.

Hi David, thank you for all your recent visits and comments. That one 'Elk' shot is not as close as it seems. The compact camera I was using at the time had a 3X zoom so I was probably more like 10 feet away rather than 2 feet but it was still exhilarating !

Thanks for stopping by, David...I get it now, I didn't realize you leaving permanently. Like they say 'Something's lost but something's gained." I'm jealous, new adventures are always exciting! I've heard the food there is among the finest on the planet with all the multi-cultural influences. From your recent posts, it looks like you and your trusty Pentax have readily adapted to the colors, hues and tones in that neck of the woods. Congratulations on your new job at the Strait Times.

Thanks for stopping by, David. Sometimes I start tinkering around with a little adjustment here and there until I find something I like. Also the Aperture application I use on my Apple has numerous preset effects settings that I can go through. This includes settings for Sepia and B/W which I can use for comparison to decide on the best presentation. Greatly appreciate your continued support and encouragement !

Hello, David...you are quite right about the rose. It is most definitely a Chicago Peace variety. Not that I'm an expert or anything close....but its identity became readily apparent after viewing dozens of photo examples on Google. Actually it's the same as the ones you have in your garden and the one you so beautifully captured in your "Raindrops"...once again our affinities seem to parallel. Those twin buds were a gift of nature that were captured strictly by serendipity.

Yes, David, the light source was a large star on top of a 50ft Xmas tree in a public park. I experimented with long exposures & camera movement & was soon waving the camera around like a wild man. Was able to design symbols, signs(male/female),numbers. Passersby would stare! It was a little tricky, everything was upside down/backwards. Have some 'shooting stars' pics I will upload soon that you might enjoy

Then the shot is put into Colour Efex Pro 4 adding what is needed then converted to B&W in Silver Efex Pro 2 and finally back into Aperture 3 for finishing. The filter responsible for the bring out the wood grain on the squeeze box is the Dark Contrast filter in Colour Efex Pro 4 Kind Regards Richard

Thanks David.Robert Peary seems to have mainly been on the west coast of Greenland near Cape York. We were on the Eastern side near the Scoresby Sund Fjord. Two days after the attack we met them again (they and us being the only guests in a small guesthouse)They had to report to the police after having killed the two polar bears. Greenland was a wonderful experience and less complicated than it may sound when you read there reports. We had our kids with us(the youngest being 8 years)
