First off, a note about the title. The small town that I live in is called this by the locals, though I have yet to ferret out the reason for them doing so, if there even is one. The actual name is Healdton.
I had gone down to the local lake to check on the condition of the old fishing pier after the recent flooding. I had previously photographed this pier (see "Seen Better Days") and on this evening I found the pier walkway submerged and much the worse from the floods. Time will tell if it survives.
Afternoon thunderstorms were surrounding us and I felt that we might have some good light for sunset, so I hung around to see what might develop.
In the end, the light proved to be fantastic and in this scene you can see a bit of the fishing pier in the right hand side of the image. I could not have wished for better light!
