(@PicArtIS The grizzlies in The Khutzeymateen have been protected since 1994. As a result they do not fear man as much as they are curious about men. We are not 'natural prey'. As a result you can get very close to them... But ... yes I use a Nikon 80 - 400 lens. Thanks so much for your visit and comment.

(@Inselaffe No.... definite lack of bears in London. I just read an article about 'rewilding' The British Isles with bear and wolf. Thank you so much for your visit.

(@MitchG) Hi Michel... Yes Mama Bear is on extremely high alert. Mating season is not a great time for cubs. I appreciate your visit as always my friend....
(@Jennybear) Jenny Stevens said:April 14th, 2017 (12:14pm) PDT
(@KENBURROWS) Hi Ken... this is a first for me so I hope you get it. Mom's stress level is high during mating seasons as the males kill cubs to bring the female into her estrous cycle. Sad but true. I have witnessed a male going after two cubs.... the cubs took off into woods, Mon stayed for only a few seconds to give some space and then she took off. She will fight to the death to defend her cubs. We did not hear any noise... all went well.... and thank you.

(@Marthe did you get this?
(@Marthe) marthe said:April 14th, 2017 (4:51am) PDT
very beautiful capture! I am always surprised to see them standing up..
@Jennybear replied: Thank you Marthe.... The females with cubs stand quite a bit. This Mom stood up a lot ! It is such a bad time for cubs, as the males are high on testosterone...

Mom is not only watching and trying to pick up a scent ... but teaching her cubs certain techniques of safety. Mom has two cubs and this is her 'son' practicing how to pick up scents above the sledge grass. Also, Grizzlies have good eyesight.
