I understand this situation very well. A brown bear moved in to my creek and killed three black bears. Happened overnight. Sorry about your news. And yes, I fully understand the impossibility of taking good shots from a boat in choppy weather. Brian

Awwwwww......I am so, so sad....that is heartbreaking. Poor babies.....and I hope Momma wasn't hurt badly trying to protect her young. Nature can be so cruel. : (

I am about to share some awful news. A big male moved in the week after I left and he killed these three cubs, plus five others I saw. What us especially bad about this is that female grizzlies do not mate until they are five to eight years old and most keep their cubs for three years before mating again. They are one of North American's slowest reproduction rated mammal. Such a shame.
