they've always been creatures from a fairy-tale world to me with their gentle hugeness and big soft nose. always exiting to watch them moving!

I spent a week in Yellowstone and the Tetons and saw an abundance of wildlife: bison, elk, wolves, pelicans, etc. But the moose and bear avoided me like the plague. I was desperate. On the last morning, I went to Schwabacher's Landing only to be stymied by a forest fire and the mountains were covered by smoke and completely invisible.

So I went on a wildlife expedition. I had to photograph a moose on this trip. I went to Moose Junction (where else would you go to find a moose?). Up and down Moose-Wilson Road and nothing. I met a couple the night before and they told me about a place up north that they were told had a moose this week. It was my last chance. I drove up the dirt road and saw a few cars parked on the side - a sure sign of wildlife activity, so I went to explore. I came over a hill and there he was! My hunt was successful. I shot many, many, many photos of this guy and he even posed for me as you can see in this shot. I can't wait to go back.
