In a year with far less than normal precipitation, which followed a year of extreme drought for California, the wildflowers in the lower foothills are putting on a magical display.
Just about every curve of shoreline here at Folsom Lake has sweeping displays of lupine and owls clover tumbling downhill right to the waters' edge. In fact, some of it is actually IN the water! There is also a healthy variety of other wildflowers on the trails that wind themselves through the woodlands of the foothills. Fairy Lantern, Monkey Flower, paintbrush, lilac, poppies, honeysuckle, and many more I can't name.
Recent weather has been dry and hot, so if you want to see a bit of Paradise don't wait too long. Oh, and be very careful...the rattle snakes really like the thick cover these wildflowers provide!
Thanks as always for stopping by for a look!
