Fabulous shot. Isn't it amazing how close they will let you come if they feel like it. I had the same experience this summer with the red tailed hawk that I photographed.

This is a photo of a Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) hunting in a small field in Ohio at dusk. I was able to get very close to the hawk (about six feet or so!) It didn't seem to mind me there at all. I watched the hawk for over a half hour as it was looking for prey.
