Wood ducks have the most amazing palette of colours ... almost as if they were hand painted. Super reflection and a stand out photograph. You think he would share some of his beauty with his wives !!!!
@CreativeIsland replied: Hi Jenny, the interesting thing in biology is that his 'wives' are the one that made him that beautiful. Many species (especially birds) are sexually dimorphic, i.e. the male and female of the species are quite different in appearance. The females are the ones that choose the mates so as long as they continue to want more brilliantly coloured males, the bright ones dominate.

It was interesting to watch this male wood duck keep his harem of beautiful females together. A third female was part of the group, but slipped out of the frame when I shot this.
